Michael Rood & Jace Champlin founded RCA Wealth Strategies in 2013 after years of frustration in the financial services industry. Most companies are almost solely focused on the bottom line of the firm vs doing the right thing for it’s clients. RCA was formed to flip that on its head through our 3 core principals:
Clients’ Needs Always Come First. Period.
Open, Honest, and Direct communication. Good, bad or indifferent. Truth is the truth. Speak it.

Our Story
Mike and Jace both worked in the captive agent world for many years. They got to see the corporate structure and product pushing of financial services first hand. Matching clients to products based on suitability vs acting in a fiduciary capacity is a much different approach. They felt their practice should be independent of sales quotas of particular products and services that can create unnecessary conflicts of interest.
Together, they formed RCA Wealth Strategies in January of 2013. The firm was setup to provide a world of financial services, including top quality planning, risk management, and wealth management services to clients across the US. RCA works in a fiduciary capacity to always act in the clients’ best interest.
In October 2021, RCA Wealth Strategies took independence to another level by launching its own RIA (Registered Investment Adviser). Being an RIA provides additional freedoms and efficiencies to provide top of the industry service to their clients.
RCA believes the best way to help clients reach their financial goals is to implement a well-coordinated and personalized strategic plan that provides flexibility and confidence to meet goals. We believe a financial plan should have a level of certainty that provide client’s peace of mind knowing what to expect for the future. We strive to be the trusted advisor our clients and their families call for all their financial needs and questions.

Mike entered the financial services industry in 1991 right after graduating from the University of California Irvine with a degree in Economics. He started his career doing fee-based financial planning and overall asset management for his clients. In 1997, Mike was promoted to the Regional Sales Manager position with his firm and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he managed the investment offices throughout the state as well as neighboring states. He moved with his young family to Kansas City in 2001 to begin building a financial advisory practice. He was promoted to Site Leader for the Kansas City office in 2009 and until opening RCA Wealth Strategies is 2013.
Mike lives in Olathe, KS with his wife, Jodi, as they enjoy their blended family of Alexis, Tim and Michael Jr. They are very proud of their children as they watch them grow through their 20s. Mike loves baseball and enjoys being outdoors fishing, biking, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Jace began his financial services career in 2008 after graduating with a degree in Finance from Northwest Missouri State University. Jace worked for a big box corporation for the first five years of his career. That experience taught him a lot about how he did not want to do business in the industry. After seeing the vast conflicts of interest, pushy sales tactics, and corporate product quotas, Jace partnered with mentor Michael Rood to do it a better way!
Jace and his wife Megan, live in Kansas City, KS as they enjoy raising their three daughters (Riley, McKenzie, & Clary). Much of their spare time revolves around the kids’ activities including dance, gymnastics and softball. You can also find Jace competing on the baseball field, bowling, biking, shooting, or playing cards.
